The main images used for this website were developed through a workshop that took place at Gowrie St Primary School in December 2016.
This workshop, organised by the school’s KESO Lyn Thorpe, saw a number of students work with artists from Kaiela Arts to develop their own clay hands. The artists, Tammy Atkinson and Troy Firebrace, shared with the students the process of using symbols to share their identity and story. The students then moulded the clay hands and carved symbols into their surface to tell their story.
A great time was had by all, and the students were rightly very proud of their work.
The images themselves were taken by Gabby McKindley, the school’s Student Wellbeing Coordinator.
